If I Wasn’t a Beauty Blogger

I’m not sure if it’s just because I’m more immersed in the beauty world now, but it seems like the market has SO many different products. New brands are popping up left and right, and while all these new launches are exciting, it can be a difficult world to navigate for the everyday consumer. Without a doubt, there are countless products that have great formulas and are effective, but does that mean we need them all? Of course not.

Because everything beauty and skincare is what my page is all about, I constantly test new products, but it got me thinking about if I wasn’t a beauty blogger. For someone not a fellow skincare addict, which handful of products could form a solid skincare routine? If you were wondering the same, I’ve got you covered! I gathered a group of products that would encompass a simple yet effective skincare routine. They are all products I really love and have purchased myself, except the Kosas deodorant.

Let’s jump into it! I of course would still need to double cleanse, whether it be with an oil and micellar water or oil and cream cleanser combo. The Glossier milky oil is a longtime product in my collection. I like how small and travel friendly it is, and you only need a little bit to remove the majority of your makeup. If I have a really heavy base on, I’ll then go in with a cotton pad full of Bioderma micellar water to sweep up any remaining dirt. This micellar water was the very first “cleanser” I started using and it really is so magical. It’s basically water, but has micelles that attract the dirt and grime on your face. It’s simple and I can count on it working without fail every time. I’ve definitely had my fair share of creamy cleansers, but I always return to this Fresh Soy Cleansing Milk. It’s ultra gentle and just makes my skin feel so comfy and soft. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all and it’s my go-to I’m super confident in!

For a while, I was all about a 10 step skincare routine, with toners, essences, serums...all of that good stuff! Even though I still return to this routine occasionally, I think that a simple routine is equally as effective if curated properly. It all depends on your personal skin needs of course, but I think pairing a toner and moisturizer you really like will do the trick. My very first toner is so special to me because it has limited edition Snoopy packaging! Apart from the adorable packaging, this Hada Labo clear lotion is a no fuss, simply hydrating toner. There’s no alcohol and it locks in moisture.  I would definitely repurchase this one, but since I picked it up in Japan, I’ll have to search for another way to buy it!

The moisturizer of all moisturizers for me is hands DOWN the Tatcha Dewy Cream. I started using it about two years ago, and have been hooked ever since. It’s a pricey little tub, but has so many unique qualities that set it apart from all other creams. First off, the texture is so luscious and thick, and it really sinks into the skin and plumps it up. The cream is packed with antioxidants and their key ingredient, Japanese purple rice, for extreme hydration. What I love about this cream is that it always feels so comforting, like a warm hug for your skin! When my skin is irritated, sunburned, or just not having it, I always turn to this dewy cream. While many creams will only further irritate my skin, the dewy cream works to heal it. After cleansing, I’ll apply this cream and nothing else! The ingredients work so well with my skin and can really take the place of so many other products I use. I highly highly recommend it for dry or sensitive skin.

Oils are a relatively pretty new step in my routine. A couple years ago I didn’t even know they were a thing! My all time favorite oil is the Youth to the People goji berry oil. It has such a delicious and pleasant scent to it and it’s hydrating yet not greasy. I used to think that oils would clog my pores, but that’s not the case at all! My skin drinks up this one and I can’t rave about it enough. I don’t see myself putting it down anytime soon :)

For a little bit of extra dew on no makeup days, I’ll apply a little bit of the Glossier Futuredew on my cheeks and eyelids (if I’m feeling esp editorial). It has no shimmer, just a product to provide true dewiness. Even if I’m feeling drab inside, Futuredew makes my skin look healthy and plump.

As a bonus skincare product, I wanted to throw in the Kosas Chemistry deodorant. It retails for $15, which I think is really reasonable for a high quality and CLEAN deodorant.  Clean skincare is important for all parts of our body and especially if we are putting it under our pits everyday. I rarely wear it now that I’m inside most of the time, but you know I’ll be prepared for when I re-enter society someday. It has a roller ball applicator, something pretty interesting for a product like this. The formula is effective and doesn’t irritate or make my skin itch. My only tip is to make sure you let it dry for a good while once you’ve applied it. It has a serum-y texture and stays tacky for a pretty long time compared to most deodorants.

I would love to know which skincare products are your holy grails! Feel free to leave me a DM or comment over on my IG!
